Embedded Masterclass 2008

With its focus on leading edge embedded technology and tools, the Embedded Masterclass has gained a reputation for being 'useful and informative', a chance to meet with vendors and engineers in a non-sales environment, and a chance to listen to technical presentations from key industry leaders.

This year the Embedded Masterclass will feature an Embedded Linux Workshop and will take place in both London and Bristol. Attendance at this event is free (except for the Linux workshop) to embedded engineers and technology managers.

Further details can be found on the Embedded Masterclass website.

Rapita Systems will be demonstrating how the RapiTime worst-case execution time (WCET) and performance profiling tool can be used to analyse real-time software running on real embedded hardware (a PowerPC), using TraceBox on-target tracing technology.

Rapita Systems' CEO, Dr. Guiem Bernat, will be giving a presentation, Optimising Real-Time Systems - Why average case optimisations are not the same as worst case optimisations.

The RapiTime demonstration and presentation will be of interest to people involved in the development of real-time embedded systems wanting to:

  • Understand and verify software execution time behaviour.
  • Reduce the effort required to resolve timing issues.
  • Obtain confidence in system reliability; by ensuring that time constraints are met.
  • Improve software performance, so that new functionality can be added without the need for costly hardware upgrades.
  • Target optimisation effort where it will be most effective, minimising any subsequent maintenance burden.
  • Extract the maximum performance from the most cost effective processor variants.
  • Build timing correctness into systems, rather than try and get timing bugs out.
